Interviews and Articles Exclusive Interview with Vaski had a chance to catch up with 22 year old Dubstep producer Vaski. Check out this Exclusive Interview to learn how he got his start, his inspiration, and much more!

LOLLI: How and when did you get your start?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]I started in 2008. I heard dubstep at a festival called "Accelerator" in Minnesota. One of my fav local DnB djs was playing it, at first I didnt like it, but by the end of the set I was loving it. When I went home I started making it.

LOLLI: How do you describe your music?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]My music covers a lot of bases. I dont have one set style. I write whatever I'm feeling at the time, its more of a way to express myself then anything. A lot of people would say my music is characterized by the metallic semi-industrial synth noises. I would say its defined by my spacey and somewhat unusual melodies.

LOLLI: Where do you find your inspiration?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]A variety of places, but mostly just from my life in general. The events and happenings of my life dictate the way my music sounds. When you are listening to true art in the form of music, you are listening to that persons emotion and experiences in the form of sound. I am very fond of choosing specific things to do with my time, I will block off a few hours of my day and just experience nature, or experience the city, or wherever I am. I think its important for everyone to realize that the world we live in is incredibly beautiful, and no matter what is going on in your life the world is its own entity waiting to be experienced. I view creativity as life experience forced into a tangible thing. That is what you're doing really, forcing your thoughts and feelings into something that others can hear. Any successful artist will know what I mean when I say that writing music is a two part endeavor, there's stage one, which is the actual writing/creating - and then there is stage two, which is taking what you wrote, and making it accessible to others. Raw uncut music sounds bad, the first draft will never be the best. Thats what separates professionals from hobbyists, the willingness to spend the extra 100 hours making your product flawless. That doesn't take creativity, that takes balls and sheer willpower. I like to think that my finished music is a result of being inspired, but its not. "Inspiration" is something everyone can relate to in different forms.

LOLLI: What is your favorite thing about touring?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]Its too hard to pick just one thing! I love love love seeing new things and meeting interesting people, but really what makes me happiest is playing a good set and having the time of my life with a bunch of like-minded people.

LOLLI: What goals do you have for yourself and your career?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was. To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause. I travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each pokemon to understand, the power thats inside.

LOLLI: Is there anyone you'd like to collab with?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]Childish Gambino. He gets a lot of hate, but from a producers standpoint, his vocal tone and flow are really interesting. I also like his beats.

LOLLI: Anything else you'd like to add?

[gray]VASKI: [/grey]Life advice from a dubstep producer: Dont take yourself too seriously, and never look down on or view yourself as more important then anyone.

LOLLI: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us!
