Interviews and Articles
This week I had the chance to sit down and talk to the management of Static, Pittsburgh’s newest club.   Scheduled to open this Saturday, August 27th, Static has already been gaining a lot of hype because of its rare format.  Static is the only club in Pittsburgh to fully focus and cater to the electronic music scene.   Located at 1650 Smallman Street in the Strip District, the former Rosebud space, Static is geared to draw the crowd that wants to dance, drink, and enjoy a chic environment, all while listening to world class electronic music.

Pittsburgh has had a long and diverse history in the electronic scene, however in recent years it has been lacking any type of large format electronic nightclub.  This creates a certain amount of frustration for the electronic music-goer, as a night out can turn into a wild goose chase to track down quality EDM in a quality environment.  Static plans to fill that void and provide Pittsburgh and surrounding areas with a true party destination– the first and only European infused electronic dance club in Pittsburgh, crafted for all high energy party seekers! ... and what else does this mean?  A true home for electronic music is back in the Strip District (Metropol you are gone, but never forgotten).  As the Strip District continues to be revitalized, Static plans to aid in the rebuilding process to bring the Strip back to life.  Housed in what was the former Rosebud space, Static will soon become the “IT” destination for elite Pittsburgh EDM-focused nightlife, bringing with it an influx of activity and excitement to one of Pittsburgh’s greatest neighborhoods.

The former Rosebud space, which can hold over 1,000 EDM loving patrons, has been completely redesigned and transformed.  An incredible lighting system fills the entire venue, accenting the modern, breath taking interior décor.  Static boats a mezzanine terrace level as well as an outside patio which will allow guests to enjoy cocktails in an open air environment.  To top off the updates, Static has been equipped with a state of the art 50,000 watt linear pressure bass driven sound system complete with EAW, EV, and CROWN components (A world class sound system for world class performers).

Static will be open every Friday and Saturday to patrons 21 and older, starting with the grand opening this Saturday, August 27th 2011, and will focus on the House, Techno and Electro genres of EDM.  You can expect to see the very best national and international EDM talent come through Static’s doors.  Morgan Page, American progressive house and electro house DJ from Los Angeles, is confirmed for October, and plans are in the works for acts such as Pete Tong, Chris Lake, Laidback Luke, Jesse Rose, Miguel Migs, Porter Robinson, and many more.  Pittsburgh’s own DJ Strobe has claimed Static as his new residence.  Join Strobe every Saturday for a continuation of the global house music party he is known for, complete with the finest in global-tech-electro-Dutch house anthems.  In addition, Static will open on selected off nights to host national and international talent as well as other genres of EDM.  In addition to their event calendar, Static will host private and corporate parties.  For more information, email  Promoters interested in using Static for your event should also email DJ’s interested in playing at Static should email strobe[at]staticpgh[dot]com.

On top of providing top of the line music and venue to hear it in, Static will provide world class drinks always at a reasonable price.  Drink specials will be featured on select nights, and for a full list you can visit  Bottle service is available at Static, however it will NOT be required to reserve a VIP section.  This is something else that Static will be doing much differently than the other clubs in the area.  For VIP information, email vip[at]staticpgh[dot]com.  As far as what to wear, a full dress code is available on Static’s website, but in short, dress like you are going out to an upscale night club.  No baggy clothing or solid color t-shirts will be permitted.

The concept of an exclusive electronic music club can be found in several big name clubs across the world, however the design, operation, and the feel of Static keep this club in a class truly by itself.  It is a welcome addition to Pittsburgh’s growing nightlife and is sure to offer to it what has been lacking for so long... a home for electronic music.  Static will continue to stay ahead of the curve by supplying world class DJs, the best in sound and lighting, along with your favorite mixed drinks, beers and wines.  Make sure to check out their grand opening this Saturday, August 27th, 2011.  Doors open at 9pm.  For more information make sure to check out Static’s website at, find them on FaceBook, and as always visit for all of your EDM needs.
